Self-directed Play

Children are given the opportunity to choose activities, materials and play areas independently. Each play area is open at this time and children are free to move from one area to another. Set up of the classroom is to stimulate and invite children to explore, discover and experiment with a variety of activities and materials.Choices will include painting, drawing, play-dough, clay, collage, water and sand tables, music and listening centers, dress up area, dramatic play area, floor toys, etc.
