About Us | Discovery

Discovery Childcare Centre is a licensed group childcare facility in South Burnaby. We believe that children learn from their environment and the people around them. They learn by watching, listening, playing, exploring, experimenting, questioning, problem-solving, making choices, experiencing new things, being treated fairly and consistently and having the time to enjoy being a child.

Our philosophy and program are inspired by the best ideas from many approaches in this field – Reggio Emilia, Montessori and traditional (to name a few). The key concept is British Columbia’s Early Learning Framework. Our philosophy is not static but evolving all the time. It is based on the image of the child as a strong, resourceful and curious being, desiring to learn and to teach, wanting to be loved and capable to love, and a powerful contributor to his or her own education.
